hogwarts house aesthetics: stress

littlestwhispers

gryffindor: heavy breathing; taking long sips of whiskey, neat. fingers pinching the bridge of your nose, eyes squeezed until grayscale zigzags appear behind your eyelids. fidgeting with the closest object, braiding and unbraiding hair/string/shoelaces/anything you can get your hands on. smiling through pressure; a false bravado of “of course - nothing’s wrong!” and sagging shoulders when watchful eyes look away. angry outbursts at those trying to help; a snap in reply, a hard sigh, and a muttered sorry through pursed lips.

ravenclaw: long walks to the library; putting down the textbook to pick up a fantasy and losing yourself in the success of someone else. willfully falling down a wikipedia rabbit hole; a preoccupation with learning something that doesn’t mean anything right now. talking in your sleep; dreams providing clarity you need and only sometimes remember. making a list of pros and cons, rambling through decisions until you arrive at the one that makes the most sense (or does it?)

hufflepuff: the comfiest sweaters, with sleeves too long balled up in too-tight fists. cup after cup of cocoa; a sugar rush to keep a smile on your face. at the breaking point, a wicked smile and a need to party - or dance, or drink, or cry, or scream, or fuck - and a sheepishness the morning after. avoidance, and you’re damn good at it, a master of white lies and excuses from thin air. calling your best friend to rant and talking through tears; “am i laughing or crying?”

slytherin: running in the rain, meant to make your stomach hurt; pain feeling better than despair, and throwing yourself into work you don’t need to do just to feel productive in the face of failure. shutting down the frantic beating of your heart; slamming a padlock shut on the nerves, the tears, the sadness, the worry. telling a wound to stop bleeding and expecting it to listen. showering only as often as you need to to wash the grease from your hair, forgetting to eat and surviving (thriving?) on a liter of coffee a day, but dressing like the media follow you wherever you go.

study moods by city

Prague: inside a cafe, pages upon pages of readings left, a warm mug of hot chocolate, the sound of chatter and soft acoustic music

London: serious Sunday studying, papers strewn across a desk, flipping from subject to subject, a steaming cup of tea, dedication

Barcelona: study groups, quizzing each other, laughter amongst friends, comparing answers, textbooks all across the table

Vienna: early morning studying, a cool glass of water and fresh fruit, flipping through flash cards, feeling prepared for the day

Berlin: late night cram session, a strong pot of coffee, hair tied back, the middle of exam season, ink smears on fingertips

Venice: preparing for a presentation, public speaking jitters, bullet points on index cards, cappuccino and a pastry

Dublin: snow outside of frosted windows, the glow of street lamps, reading warm and indoors, getting lost in a book, oversized sweaters

Paris: sunny spring afternoon, light filtering through the window, typing away on a laptop, approaching deadlines, a well organized desk

As by request, I’ll be writing to you guys today about how I use google calendar! This was my first semester using it, and it’s really useful in college for keeping up with due dates and your class calendars. Personally, I only use it on my iPad, but you can use it on multiple devices!

image

This is my current schedule on google calendar. You can see how I have a lot of things on my schedule. However, you can add more than just events. You can also add goals and reminders as well.

image

By clicking the plus sign in the corner, you can see the different options you have on the calendar! Besides these, you can set your viewing options to days/week/month, as well as whether or not you want to include birthdays/holidays/etc.

Besides school info, I also add what times I’ll be working, going to the gym, etc. It’s super handy for planning your week and keeping up with school work. I hope to continue using it in the future!

different ways you can study

holokth

╰ exam questions/practice questions

╰ rewriting notes

╰ grab a textbook and highlighter (only important stuff!!)

╰ bullet pointing notes (use funky arrows or pretty heart bullets)

╰ reading over a page for 2 minutes then trying to recall as much as you can on paper - repeat (very effective)

╰ watching educational videos/documentaries

╰ flashcards (2 types) - you can either write a word with the definition on the back or do a full subtopic on a flashcard for portable revision

╰ plain reading - this is underrated but reading simple articles or just reading over your notes is considered studying too !!

╰ teaching - talking to a pet or a person or even a wall, trying to teach them what you’re learning helps retain the information and get your brain working

criminologystudies

Hey guys! I have compiled a list of studyblrs and organized them both by year and major (if they’re in university or college).

As you can see, this  list has gotten quite long  and for those who don’t know i go to school in Canada meaning I don’t understand how grades work in the UK or other countries so I apologize if I got it wrong!!

If you reblogged the post with the information and I did not add you, I apologize but I lost track sometimes where I was in the lists and might have skipped you.

Feel free to add what year you are or what you’re studying in the reblogs or tags!! Follow those who are in the same year as you or studying the same subject, or follow anyone if you’re looking for new people to follow.
